Qld: Three survive brush with death in Qld
Three far north Queenslanders have had a brush with death after separate snake andjellyfish encounters.
The spate began on Christmas Eve at 11am (AEST) in Kuranda when an eight-year-old Cairnsgirl was bitten several times on her elbow by what witnesses believe to be a Taipan.
A Queensland Health spokeswoman says that although the girl is still weak, she's recoveringwell in Cairns Base Hospital.
In two jellyfish incidents, a 10-year-old boy and then a 25-year-old man were stungby the potentially lethal irukandjis near Cairns.
An ambulance spokesman says the boy was swimming within protective nets at a northernCairns beach yesterday when he was stung.
He's also recovering in the Cairns Base Hospital and is expected to be released later today.
The man -- who has been released from hospital -- was stung at Palm Cove, another popularCairns northern beach at 8.30pm (AEST) on Boxing Day.
