NSW: $107 .5 million funding for NSW mental health system

The New South Wales government has announced a $107.5 million funding boost for mental
health, to be spent over three years.

The package is part of the government's $2.1 billion funding package announced earlier this year.

NSW Health Minister CRAIG KNOWLES says it's the largest ever injection of funds into
mental health.

And he says the package will help NSW catch up to other states in mental health funding.

Mr KNOWLES says priority areas will be in rural areas, the central coast and in Sydney's
south-west.

He says a steering committee will be formed to plan mental health services across the
state with the new funding.
